چکیده
Despite the high relevance of communities dominated by lichens, mosses and cyanobacteria living on soil surface (biocrusts) for ecosystem functioning in drylands, no study to date has investigated decomposition biocrust-forming lichen litter situ. Thus, we do not know whether drivers its are similar those plant (for example, importance abiotic degradation through UV radiation), magnitude rates they will be affected ongoing climate change. Here report results from a experiment carried out with two lichens (Diploschistes diacapsis Cladonia convoluta) that differ chemical quality (C:N ratio) central Spain. We evaluated how was warming, rainfall exclusion their combination. also manipulated incidence radiation using mesh material blocked 10% or 90% incoming radiation. Our indicate decompose as fast some plants typical area (k ~ 0.3 y?1). observed differences among species studied line what is expected according composition. Warming increased both 28% mediated effects photodegradation. Although exposure accelerated D. diacapsis, it slowed C. convoluta. can field at rate vascular this process warming. The findings presented emphasize need considering biocrusts tissues when honing models aiming forecast carbon cycling responses change drylands.

Adenosine acts as neuromodulator in the brain, which its involvement in a wide range of brain processes and diseases has been studied, such as epilepsy, sleep, anxiety, panic disorder, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease and schizophrenia. Adenosine receptors have been detected: A1R, A2AR (A2AR), A2BR, and A3R. A1R and A2R inhibit cAMP production, while A2AR and A2BR stimulate cAMP product...

The role of oxidized high-density lipoprotein (oxHDL) and the protective effects of adiponectin in terms of vascular calcification is not well established. This study was conducted to investigate the effects of oxHDL with regards to inflammation and vascular calcification and to determine the protective role of adiponectin in attenuating the detrimental effects of oxHDL. Cell viability, mineral...
متن کاملGlobal negative vegetation feedback to climate warming responses of leaf litter decomposition rates in cold biomes.
Whether climate change will turn cold biomes from large long-term carbon sinks into sources is hotly debated because of the great potential for ecosystem-mediated feedbacks to global climate. Critical are the direction, magnitude and generality of climate responses of plant litter decomposition. Here, we present the first quantitative analysis of the major climate-change-related drivers of litt...

In this study, the effects of late gestational undernutrition (LGU) on plasma concentration of insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-I), leptin, insulin and glucose in subsequent sucking lambs was investigated. Ten twin-bearing ewes were fed either restrictedly (Restricted) or adequately (Control) during the last six weeks of gestation and were fed ad libitum after parturition. Blood samples were t...
